He earned his doctorate at Texas A&M University and is a professor emeritus of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he taught for twenty-three years, serving as associate dean of the College of Architecture. Dr. Luther is a correspondent to the Kerrville Daily TimesWe're neither Texans nor history buffs but we found this book pretty darn interesting! The author illustrates how and why this geographically rather small Camp Verde area of Texas played such an exciting and pivotal role in the story of the American West. The questions asked are insightful and I felt that I got to know these scientist a little.This book took a torturous route to get here. So kudos to translator Ross Benjamin as the book reads seamlessly. It is questionable if all of the interviewees are actually scientists (for example, one is an economist and one a philosopher), but these interviews were still related to science. I have read several of the essays years before. Luther states so well, "Here the frontiersmen of legend rode into our memory and shaped our Texas heritage" (154). I give it my highest recommendation.. Save our money and, perhaps lives, and let robots do the work. I am a huge admirer of Steven Weinberg. Great book!
