S. We hear from extraordinary natural and social scientists, including:- Evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins on ego and selflessness
- Primatologist Jane Goodall on chimpanzee behavior
- Neuroscientist V. When they talk about their work, they turn to what’s next, to what they still hope to discover. And they see inspiration everywhere: From the sports car that physicist Steven Weinberg says helped him on his quest for “the theory of everything” to the jazz musicians who gave psychologist Alison Gopnik new insight into raising children, they reveal how their paradigm-changing work entwines with their lives outside the lab. “What distinguishes scientists, in your eyes?”—Stefan Klein“First and foremost, curiosity.”—Roald Hoffmann, Nobel Prize–winning chemistWhen Stefan Klein, an acclaimed journalist, sits down t Delights abound.”—Nature “Klein’s interview subjects explain their science clearly and display their passions vividly, making this an engaging introduction to a great breadth of scientific topics.”—American Scientist “An exceedingly welcome volume that will expose readers to all manner of topics that are likely new to them in a manner that focuses first on the lively personalities of the scientists, while slowly diving into their work. Surprises aboundand the book’s diversionary aspect can not be overrated. “The dazzling clutch of scientific minds caught in mid-thought here makes for a read that provokes thought. Truly enjoyable.”—Booklist &ldquIt is interesting to note the that even the high and mighty collectors can make mistakes. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, made up of interviews with scientists conducted by author Stefan Klein over an extended period of time The interviewees included a broad range of scientists in fields such as physics, chemistry, biology and medicine. I am debating also getting that one. Interesting interviews with knowledgeable people. It is questionable if all of the interviewees are actually scientists (for example, one is an economist and one a philosopher), but these interviews were still related to science. I wish there were even more information, specifying exactly how one can look at the individual pieces and see what is "wrong" with them, maybe with detail photos even, but this is far ahead of most such works that ignore or gloss over problematic pieces.Prospective buyers should be aware that "decorative arts" here does not include silverwares, which I presume must be in the volume of sculp
